In the competitive Rhode Island wedding market,  DJ Ra-Mu from Ra-Mu and the Crew would like to offer a friendly DJ/MC challenge to Stephen S. Passarelli, owner of A Better Sound.

I figured that I would shed light on this very important topic.  This year marks by 15th year in DJ industry. I used to work for agencies years ago and although I am grateful that I got by start in this business though an agency, hiring a disc jockey through an agency can also be a recipe for disaster.

I can remember when I worked for an agency, the “send the next availabe guy” mentality was very common.  Often, I would show up to venues and the client would be expecting to see another DJ.  I would the apologize and make up a story(coming from the agency) of why the expected DJ could not make it.  Often, the excuses ranged from “the expected dj was in a car accident”  or “the expected dj was sick”.  Luckily, when I filled in, the “would be” disaster was avoided but imagine if on your special day, a true novice showed up that didn’t know his ass from his elbow.

Avoid these disasters and sit down with your entertainer before hiring them  Make sure that the contract specifies who your entertainer and back-up entertainer will be.  We do this a Ra-Mu and the Crew.
