Apr 11, 2010 – Rhode Island Wedding DJ Ra-Mu from Ra-Mu and the Crew recently offered Luke Renchan Jr. of Lukes DJ Service DJ Lessons.
“I’m a fan”, says Ra-Mu. “I think that Luke has all the potential to be one of the biggest music moguls in the state of Rhode Island and beyond. That is why I want to teach him everything that I know so he can solidify that position.”
Today’s wedding DJ must not only be a great MC but also a great DJ in this highly competitive market. Being good in just one of the aforementioned categories would have good enough in prior decades. The modern bride wants to see a hybrid of both a polished MC and a talented “spinner of tunes”.
“I’d like Luke and I to work on beatmixing and musical sets to keep the dancefloor packed”, says Ra-Mu. “He’s got all the potential in the world and I know great things are going to happen for him. With a little practice and polish, the sky is the limit for Luke Renchan Jr.”.

This is very personal occupation for me. My reputation is on the line every weekend when I go out a do a function.” The numbers game that Ra-Mu alludes to is ever so common in the Rhode Island market. Many DJ’s look at their yearly schedule and try to squeeze in as many booked events as possible sometimes contracting them out to the next available DJ or even worse, booking multiple events for one DJ on the same day. “When the 1st priority is making your numbers, quality is sure to suffer”, states Ra-Mu. Taking a personal approach over business has working for Ra-Mu and the Crew for over 10 years now. The initial consultation takes on a detailed but casual experience. Ra-Mu wants clients to be relaxed so they can share their wedding reception vision. “I like to meet everyone personally before even thinking about contracts”, says Ra-Mu. ”During the meeting, I like to ask couples questions that go beyond the reception. Who they are. Where they’re from. What they do on the weekends for fun. When you know the personal details, these individuals hopefully become your clients and friends”. Ra-Mu has stayed in touch with many of his past clients over the years. These personal relationships ensure that 10 years from now, couples will remember their wedding DJ’s name as well as the great time their guests had.
